HELLO AND WELCOME

Hi I'm Petra,

the heart and hands behind Pemira jewellery. I live in Barnet, Hertfordshire, England.

Creating has always been a part of my life, I started making my own clothes as a teenager and apart from sewing I love embroidery, flower arranging, and I am a keen gardener.

Pemira jewellery was born from my passion for making, love of colour and beads. A perfect combination to design beautiful bespoke pieces that add a little happiness to your day.

My work is mostly dedicated to bead-weaving, using a needle and thread to create colourful earrings and bracelets. It is a labour of love and form of mindfulness, where each tiny bead is woven together over and over by hand. Many hours are often spent designing and crafting.

My jewellery is produced in small batches with many pieces one-off and bespoke. This lovely process also allows me to offer a commission-based work, where I am able to remake earrings that are no longer available or create something entirely new for you.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to share my creations with you and I hope that you will love wearing them, receiving them and/or gifting them to someone as much as I love making them.

Love Petra x

BEADS & COLOUR

There is something comforting and very enjoyable about handmade craft and learning new skills.

The feeling of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment is highly rewarding and a continuous passion.

I first started making jewellery in 2013, when my sister and I discovered a jar full of colourful little glass treasures of various shapes and sizes. Since then, beads, specifically sourced from the Czech Republic have become a huge passion of mine, because of their iridescent, vivid, shimmering colours and of the highest quality.

For my bead-weaving work I primarily use Japanese Myiuki Delica seed beads, sought after for their high quality, brilliance and uniform shape. They come in a vast array of colours and metallic finishes, which I favour the most. Each tiny little bead is only 1.6mm in diameter.

I predominantly use glass beads, high quality gemstones, sterling silver and 14k gold fill materials and my processes involves wire-wrapping, hammering and bead-weaving techniques.

All my ear wires are made from sterling silver or 14k gold filled wire, sourced from UK. On request I am also able to make custom ear-wires from extra hypoallergenic surgical steel wire.

Colour is an important element influencing many of my designs. Soft pinks and greens of the arriving spring. Vibrant turquoise, bright coral and deep blue, the seasonal shades of summer. Auburn and purple the earthy tones of autumn. My design process involves exploring colour combinations, finding complementary shades and their endless possibilities.

INSPIRED BY MORAVIA

Moravia, a beautiful region of Czechia (the Czech Republic) holds a special place in my heart. It is where I was born and raised, now a second home for me and my family we all love to visit whenever we can.

I greatly look forward to spending a few weeks there each year, surrounded by lush green open countryside, enjoying bird watching at nearby nature reserve Kotvice and hiking in the pine forests of the Beskydy mountains full of beautiful wildflowers. The towns and villages are colourful, the place is rich in culture full of traditional crafts and skills, including glass making and bead production.

The energy and atmosphere of the area provides me with endless source of inspiration for my jewellery making and design. I also cherish the time I am able to spend with other local makers and craftswomen including my sister Mirka.
